Many in the establishment put their hopes on a brokered convention in the Summer if no candidate reaches the required number by then. their hope being with back room deals and shenanigans they can steer through anyone other than Trump through a series of ballots. If they were to be so stupid the ensuing revolution if that happened would destroy the party.
Chances are Trump will reach the magical number before the convention thereby saving them from self destruction. Then the argument becomes "He can,t beat Clinton" I think he will not only beat her but do so with a landslide.
What is being largely overlooked is the similar race with the Democrats with anti establishment Bernie about to be obliterated. Who are all his supporters going to vote for in the general election. Do you really think they will go for Clinton. Huge numbers are young and very impressionable and spurred on by social media.
The very group Oboma masterfully engaged to win in 2008.
They will swarm to the Trump excitement en masse, anxious to be part of a winning movement.
The face off between Trump and Clinton looks like being extremely entertaining. He will have no hesitation in confronting her with the many failures and indiscretions during her tenure as Secretary of State. Where will he start ? Failure to secure Benghazi even after repeated requests from the Ambassador for more security or the subsequent bullshit about a video being the cause of the attack. Or maybe he will zoom in on the Clinton's Foundation's alleged nefarious activities appearing closely aligned with various countries seeking favoured policy decisions from the State dept. There is no doubt the e mail server issue will be good ammunition. Trump has the resources to dig up dirt we haven't even thought about yet.
Meantime the F.B.I we are told has a hundred or more agents working on investigating all these issues. Interesting how razzled Clinton was when asked in an interview if she would drop out of the race if indited. With protection of Oboma's legacy on the line that ain't about to happen but the failure of a result will have some consequence in the public arena, which will be jumped upon by Trump.
Trump's opponents are so paranoid now every time he speaks they are desperately trying to shut him down.
Following the cancellation of a rally in Chicago the road is blocked off to a rally in Arizona with the same objective. But these divisive tactics only increase Trumps support as people resent being stopped from hearing his message and experiencing the buzz of the occasion.
Things are shaping up for a very entertaining Summer.
