"Philosophies are man's ideas about God, Jesus is Gods revelation of himself" *
When I started writing this blog a few years ago it was intended to be my brief biography. But having caught up with my current age it now becomes more about my thoughts. As a youngster we where advised not to talk about politics or religion if you want to avoid controversy. I am not seeking controversy but the two subject do offer a lot of material to write about, most important of course the latter. I enjoy writing, to keep the mind active and with the weather not being very inviting to venture out along with restrictions temporary curtailing physical activities following a minor operation I need to keep myself occupied.
I think most of us wonder at some time what is the meaning of life. Our lifespan is so short and regardless of how much wealth any man may have, each single one of us are so insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Here today gone tomorrow. After we are gone life goes on just as before.
I was brought up in the Methodist church, which gave me a good grounding for life and instilled important values. In my mid 20s circumstances brought me into touch with Christian Science. This religion was established by Mary Baker Eddy in the 19th. Century in the U.S.A. Since then it has grown to almost every country on the planet. It appealed to me in as much as its primary difference from other beliefs is in restoring the lost element of healing as demonstrated in Jesus Christ's time.
I have experienced some wonderful healing with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, from serious injuries resulting from auto accidents and personal crisis issues. Also it becomes a way of life, guiding one through many situations.
This past year I felt a yearning to return to my roots and sought out a local Methodist Church which I started attending. They made me feel so welcome and have very interesting services bringing back childhood memories with some of the old familiar hymns. But it is a lengthy cycle ride which with recovery restrictions still in place precludes me from attending for the time being. However the Christian Science church which is in walking distance is holding a Thanksgiving service Jan 1 which I hope to take in.
