Having almost died from the viruus earlier this year I really thought he would be doing everything possible to control it. But just like Trump it has become a political issue, balancing the economy against loss of llives. However bad the economy gets, it can recover over time, just as it did after two World Wars. The thousands of people who die can not.
Now they come up with a stupid tier fiasco. Then get even stupider negotiatiing with each area designated high risk separatly for financial support, instead of a simple "per capita" calculation. Meantime with the closure of any facility, people can drive or bus to the closest lower risk tier, increasing the movement of people from high risk to low risk area. What will tnat result in.??
Then their are millions of people not receiving the care they should as covid overwhelms health care systems around the World.
Why not bite the bullet and shut everything down other than essentials fow two or three weeks, restricting all unessential travel and get the problem under control, as they have in S.E.Asians countries and a few others. Then back it up with £1,000 fines for any infractions. The threat of a stiff fine will keep most people in line.
The final damage to the economy and loss of life will be greater in the long run if they keep pussy footing around as they are.
Also the longer it goes on people will become fatigued with it all and demonstrations will throw fuel on the fire.
The U.K. "Track and Trace" was to be the best in the World. What a joke.
Time to shape uo Johnson.
Update Oct 27 City of Melbourne comes out after month of full lock down, tight travel restrictions and heavy fines for infractions. Over last 2 days report NO new infections.
U.K. anounces further areas coming under very high alert, bringing the number of people now under this level of restrictions to 8 million. With a population of 67 million means 59 million are not under the same restrictions.
With the virus almost out of control, how will this work out? Over last 2 daya here, over 40,000 new infections..
Nov 1 ......finally Johnson catipulates.Too bad he didn't lock down a month ago. This should help a lot. but their objective is still too low. They want to bring the R rate down to 1.00. That is just breaking even. They need to extend the lockdown and reduce the R factor to .5 or they may have to lock down again in the New Year which will be even more painfull.
